Diamonds are girls best friend but if there is one thing more important than diamonds, it would be our skin's condition. Trust me there is nothing more crucial than our skin as it is the most visible part of our ENTIRE body. Being as busy as a bee I am pretty sure everyone is too occupied to think about their skin. However, someone or should I say some 'stickbody' came and ask me this question.
That is absolutely right, Nuffnang stick man just ask me, "are you moist enough?" I wonder what is the first thing that runs through someone's mind when they are asked this question. However, the first thing that came to my mind was..............

Obviously not but people make mistakes and I realized that soon enough. Finally, I sat and ponder on the question for a while. I trailed my fingers along my skin and then I asked myself this question again and again, "Is my skin moist enough?".

Suddenly, I asked myself why am I cracking every corner of my head and squeezing every single brain cells I have to come up with the answer? Well, this is because Vaseline just launched their new Amazing Skin campaign featuring a whole new range of skin lotion. Vaseline skin lotion is catered for different skin needs and even Nuffnang's stick man loves it.

Moving on, so is my skin moist enough? Alright, I shall not beat around the bush so much and get straight to the point.

So is that a yes or a no? The truth is, our skin is so precious we should never stop feeding it with goodness. Hence, I would want to further improve my skin and keep it so moist until I can compete with the babies. We must always take good care of our skin by using the right lotion, drink lots of water and other ways that are not harmful.

Alright, my answer to the question, "are you moist enough?" is yes it is but it might be better after I use Vaseline's new range of lotion that comes with variants such as Total Moisture, Healthy White, Intensive Rescue, and Aloe Cool and Fresh.

At the end of the day, I am grateful for what I have and so I declare that I love my own skin and it is amazing.
[If it is dry and ugly you think I dare to upload this picture?]

Therefore, it would be even better if I can go and celebrate it at this event.

and to meet them

not forgetting the awesome nuffnang group and nuffnangers as well.

Be confident of yourself, if you have great skin, flaunt it and if you do not have awesome skin then don't be afraid to make a change. Believe in yourselves and let us celebrate our amazing skin together at Vaseline's pool party. [That is if I get invited to attend]

Last but not least, I extend my thanks to Nuffnang for this opportunity.

MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!

Once upon a time, our ancestors were not as lucky as we are right now. We have to be grateful that our unsung heroes fought to their death to bring us peace. We have to be grateful that our leaders work their sweat and blood to free our land. We have to be grateful that Malaysia was officially declared an independent country on this day, 53 years ago.

Malaysia might not be as advanced compared to Japan or USA. However, we are unique in our own way. Our culture is beyond admirable, it is inspiring. Malaysians were never seen as a country with one race, we have Malay, Chinese and Indians living together in peace and harmony. Many years has passed since independence and our country grew each day to be bigger, better and bombastic.

We work hand in hand despite our colour, race and religion. We are 1 Malaysia.

HAPPY 53rd BIRTHDAY, MALAYSIA!

Yak Malaysia/ Topic: Puasa Ramadhan

I am not referring to the novel Fasting, Feasting but rather about Ramadhan. Even though I am not muslim but I think it is actually fun to ‘puasa for one month. First of all, why do I say that? In my opinion, there are more good and beneficial things that comes out from this month instead of negative things. For instance, the bond with family and friends when they ‘buka puasa’ or break fast. It cannot be denied that in the modern era, most children will barely see their parents and let alone eat dinner with them.

IMG_6510

However, this is the magic of Ramadhan, everyone will always have the time to break fast with each other. In other words, they spend more quality time together. Children who normally don’t get to eat with their parents or have quality bonding session will find this as the the time to fill the gap. Every family will have their break fast with each other everyday. They buy the food home, go out to eat or invite other people but most of all, they spend time together. Is it not the most important thing to spend quality time with the people you love?

IMG_6513

Of course, fasting is not easy but have you ever seen a muslim break fast with a long sour face or do they have a smile plastered on their face instead? It is obvious that everything we do in life brings us joy directly or indirectly. Not only is the part of breaking fast together fun but also the part where the plan of what to have for break fast enjoyable. Most people will think that it is best not to mention about food when fasting but instead, that is the better part of fasting, talking about the food.

IMG_6517

The yakster studies in a class that has a population of 95% muslim but all they ever yak about to each other in class is food. We yak about food, drool while thinking about it and even when we get home the first thing we tweet each other on twitter, is about food. In addition, the normal conversation before 7 p.m. is what are you having for ‘buka puasa’. So it is proven that fasting and feasting is a beautiful thing. However, being said so it is still hard to fast the whole day and the hardest part is always not being able to drink water.

IMG_6531

Therefore, I am proud to share with you a few tips on how not to feel like you are fasting even though you are. Wait a minute, you must be thinking how would I know since I don’t fast. Of course I know because there are times that I was so busy, I forgot to eat the whole day which is equivalent to fasting.

My first tip, just eat normally in the morning and evening because you will mess your body up by trying to eat more than usual and you feel weird after that.

Second, go about your normal routine as usual. Don’t worry about not having enough energy because when you suddenly change your usual lifestyle then you are more likely to feel lethargic.

Lastly, just distract yourself, do as much fun stuff or something that you enjoy because as I say, when you are occupied, you will even forget that you are hungry.

IMG_6538

Happy fasting and may you enjoy feasting with your family, relatives and friends
The wonders of Malaysia is the people, the culture and the food. No doubt are we one nation that lives in harmony among each other. This is what I call 1 Malaysia.
[A trip to The Curve, witnessed their creative display for Ramadhan, took pictures and was inspired. Thus, the yakster wanted to yak about it right here, right now.]

My Sunday nights are now dedicated to visiting night market. Here is my trip to Paramount Garden’s night market. Located next to Giant, I suggest you to go there early to avoid fighting for a parking space unless you don’t mind to pay a few ringgit to park in Giant. There seemed to be quite a crowd at this night market.

IMG_4534

I didn’t really look at the items for sale such as the clothes but I went straight for the food. There are quite a number of fruit stalls and I am impressed because the variety of fruits sold is as good as the morning markets. In addition, the fruits are sold at a much cheaper price. For instance, 1 kilogram of Langsat at RM4 and the usual market price is RM7. Now that is a good bargain.

fruits stall

Next, you don’t have to travel all the way to Kajang to get some satay. There are many stalls that sold satay but one in particular caught my attention.

Untitled-1

This is what I call guaranteed hot and smoking delicious. It was even fanned with a genuine straw fan. Moving on, there were also lots of other stalls selling cakes and pastries but there was one stall that had a bakery concept and you can even see the oven they used to bake the goods.

IMG_4536

Besides, the price is ranged from RM1 to at most RM 3 for each bun. Not bad I would say compared to other bakeries and the quality is just about the same. Last but not least, snacks and tid-bits when you want to watch football or just to have a little munch. There are stalls selling all sorts of nuts, dried fruits and other kinds of snacks. However, I highly recommend the peanuts that are usually served with nasi lemak.

snacks

My ratings for this night market would be around 8 upon 10 because the variation of goods sold is very good but the limited parking space is just a hassle. Don’t know where to go on Sunday nights? Visit this night market at Paramount Garden, located next to Giant.

YakTopics: Abandoned babies

On Monday, we were discussing about abandoned babies during English period. There is no doubt that there are many cases whereby babies were found abandoned at toilets, dumpsters or just about anywhere else.
At least this young one is still alive, many were not as lucky.

Why would anyone have the heart to do it? I remember watching this music video recorded especially to raise awareness on television one day and I cried a lot watching it. The song was recorded by Malaysian artist and they showed pictures of all the abandoned babies found in Malaysia.

I could not believe my eyes. There were pictures of rotten babies in plastic bags, babies without complete body parts, prematured babies and there was one particular picture of a baby that was eaten up by A LOT of ants and looked very deformed. My heart ached for them. These poor and innocent young ones who did not get to even see the world. They are God's children too and they deserved better. Here, watch this if you have a strong heart to withstand the pain.

 Harapan Tanpa Suara

Why is this happening? We accessed a few possibilities that might lead to these problem. Firstly, teenage pregnancy contributes the most in this case. The number of teenage girls ranging from as young as thirteen to nineteen is having unprotected sex which lead them to unwanted pregnancy. After ruining their own lifes they have no other choice but to abandoned their babies because many parents would not accept such tolerance. Most of the time parents would not even come to acknowledge that their daughters were pregnant which I find slightly ridiculous. Don't tell me you taught she was just growing fat?

Sad to say, Selangor has the most recorded cases for abandoned babies and Malaysia has already 407 abandoned baby cases. Which is a very big amount! What is the world turning into? Who is to blame? I don't entirely agree that it is all the girl's fault because she might have her reasons that nobody but herself would know. However, those who are responsible for  a baby's death would be the mother and father to the baby. No matter what their age might be, they should be punished. If not punished by law, I am sure they will be punished in other ways because the moment they decided to take the first step, their lifes were already ruined, just like that.

My advice, don't let your curiosity kill you. Have you not heard that curiosity kills the cat? Even the animals love their young ones!
Is it not a shame that some of us are worse than animals?

As for the public, don't turn a blind eye on this matter. Try your best to help in spreading awareness about teenage pregnancy and its consequences. Have a heart, lend a hand.

and for those of you who are in desperate need of abandoning your babies, stop and reflect on what you are about to do. If your conscience does not kill you then at least leave them somewhere save,

*giving you, whoever is thinking about it the death stare*

We were given an oppurtunity to live the life we have by our parents. How would you feel if they did to you what you are about to do? Hold on, I forgot, you won't be feeling anything because you won't probably be around to know what happened.

They too are God's children, they deserve to live, to see the world and to be loved.

Calling all Malaysian STUDENTS! The United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Student is back with The 4th Annual Malaysian Student Leaders Summit. It seems like with the *what is that* expression on your face, this yakster here shall do what she does best, yakking.

First of all, MSLS is a two day event whereby influential speakers are invited to give a talk. When I say influential speakers I do mean influential. Datuk Nicol Ann David
The best squash player, ever!
Why should you join? Come on, how many times an oppurtunity of getting to meet these people come knocking at your door? Certainly not all the time at the best thing of this event, it is Free Of Charge. Hello! Alright, this yakster here was just chilling out and suddenly an idea hit her. A new concept for the blog. I call it the Yak concept.

Every time I feel like yakking about something I will post a blog and the title will always have the word Yak in front of it. For example, if I feel like yakking about an event that is going to happen then the title would be YakEvent:__(the event's name)___ or if I want to start yakking about a book that I just read then it would be YakBook:___(title of book) review_____.

Yakking is what I do best and I will continue to yak, yak and yak some more. Here are some YakCategories that I would post up:
1)YakYak (random yakking)
2)YakEvent/Contest (about an event/contest)
3)YakMusic (music review)
4)YakBook (book review)
5)YakFood (food review/recipes/product)
6)YakPhotography (random photos/tips/event photos) by the Yakster ofcourse
7)YakShortStories (preview on short stories) by the Yakster or from other authors
8)YakMalaysia (Malaysia related)
9)YakEducation (subject tips/formula/etc)

New YakCategory will be added in the future if necessary!

For Your Information,
The Yak concept is strictly copyright for this blog and shall not be used without permission. Thank you!

PS: When you see the Yakster it is referring to me, the author of this blog.

The KL Standard Chartered KL Marathon took place on the 27 June 2010. You are absolutely right, I am indeed very late on this post. Two years ago, I was an extremely overweight teenage girl, weighing in at about 93 kilogramme. Do not be stunned, I was that heavy. So, who would have tought, two years later, that same girl will join in a marathon and successfully complete it, right? That girl is me.

I trained during the June holiday, trying to finish 10km in an hour and a half's time. Hardwork always pays off. On the 27 June 2010, I eagerly got up at around 3 a.m. to prepare myself for the run. That's right, 3 in the morning. I ate a small muffin and did my warm up session while watching the morning news. Although, I have no idea what was in the news at that time because I was so nervous for the run later!

I really have to thank my dad, he too woke up an hour later to accompany me to Dataran Merdeka for the run. My dad drove us to One Utama to catch the bus that will bring the runners to a pick up point near Dataran Merdeka. A few runners were already there, awaiting to hop onto the bus too. Most of them came with their partners, most probably their running buddy and some were alone. I was the youngest in that bus because only I had a parent with me which I am so grateful for because it will be so frightening to be alone.
I always enjoy time spent with my dad, we chat and laughed in the bus while everyone around us looked half awake. The bus did not actually stop us at the pick up point because the police said the road was too busy at that time. We got down a bit further than allocated and it started to rain. Next year, I will bring a hat with me. Lucky enough, my dad has his hat and I brought an extra shirt to cover myself, it was freezing cold at that hour of the day with the rain pouring down at us.
We talked non-stop as we walked to Dataran Merdeka. Now you know where I got my talking skills from, yeah? Inherited it from my dad. I am not the most talkative person in the family you know? Hard to believe that there is someone more talkative than me but you have not met my dad yet. So, we arrived at the venue at it was filled with people. The full marathon runners were already flagged off at that time and the half marathon runners were gathered at the starting point waiting to be flagged off.

I think I laughed too much that morning. My dad was joking about the different runners that were there and he kept on making funny comments and gestures. I had to pee a few times before warming up again. There is no doubt that this is the largest marathon held in Kuala Lumpur not to mention an international one. There was extremely a huge amount of people that came that day.

On hour later, the half marathon runners were flagged off and the next will be the 10km marathon runners. Yes, I was only eligible to run the 1okm category, still a year to early. Next year, I will enter the half marathon category, by then I will be 18 already. I was so nervous before the race, my dad just told me to be careful and not to over exert myself during the run. Most importantly, make it back safely.

The race started before 7 a.m. I ran along side all kind of race and nationality. However, I could tell I was one of the youngest there. Half an hour into the race, I was taken away by the beauty that surrounded me. I never knew our city had so much variety in it and its beautiful structures. However, my legs just kept telling me to concentrate on my pace and speed if I want to get back on time and safely. An hour later, I pushed myself to speed up because I was a bit off track.

I told myself to keep going and reach the finish line. Without fail, I reach at about one hour and twenty-four minutes, my personal record. My dad was so proud and my legs were worked out although I did not feel tired at all, no idea why actually. I got my finisher's medal and I was a saitisfied soul.
We stayed on for a while and watched the prize giving ceremony for the full marathon winners. They inspired me to run a full marathon in the future. The men category was dominated by the Kenyans and women by the Ethiopians. The grand prize was 17, 500 USD. You got it, not Ringgit but in USD. A lot of people were speechless and amazed at the prize money, it was definately a huge sum.
We did not stay until the end because i had to rush back and meet up with T.3.A.M to discuss for Mag Inc. So, my dad and I walked to the nearest LRT station and took the LRT back to Kelana Jaya. From there, we took the bus to One Utama and then home. I got home and bath. In less than an hour I was off to my next activity, to meet up with my team to discuss for Mag Inc. They could tell I was definately, half dead.
Overall, I had a lot of fun that day and I will definately be back for next year's run. Hopefully, for the half marathon instead. I would also be eligible to run for the SHAPE night run next year, that will be even more exciting, a night run! I am proud of myself that day most of all I could tell my dad was the proudest person that day. I am grateful to have him supporting me in everything that I do, he is my hero, the one and only.

I decided to delete my previous blog and create another one with my current Google account. I recently signed up for a Google account and I like its efficiency a lot. Time has been strictly tight and my schedule has left me with little space to blog. The last time I blogged was in March. I think it will be ridiculous if i were to put down two months of events into one post. Hence, I shall not do that.

The seconds ticked by so fast I can hardly recall what I did for the past two months. Besides, I barely keep track of things already. I only remember three things that I did for the past two months. Three events that left a mark in me, kept and locked securely in my heart. However, it looks like I only have time to blog on one.

S.H.E Love is The One Concert in Malaysia

This concert was held on 6 of March. It is one of my most unforgettable experience. I am grateful I have such a supportive mother. She bought me tickets to watch my favourite idols perform life on stage eventhough she knows I have an important exam around the corner, SPM. My mother not only bought me tickets to go but she followed me as well because I didn't want to go alone. We arrived at the Bukit Jalili Outdoor Stadium at around 6 o'clock. My mother was hilarious when she tried to reverse into the parking space. Now I understand why most woman were claimed to be lousy drivers. Hopefull I inherit my father's driving skills.

My mother and I waited in the car because it rained heavily. In our hearts, we were praying for the rain to stop because the show must go on. Luckily, the rain gradually decreased to a mere drizzle and we went to take a look around the stadium. Many people came early. Fans of S.H.E from almost everywhere were here to support them. They were fans from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan and even Hong Kong. S.H.E's Malaysia fan club came dressed in pyjamas, one of the theme for the concert.

My mother laughed at them but she was impressed to see so many people. We entered quite early and my first impression of the stage was, "Oh my goodness". The stage was absolutely amazing! Even my mother praised the set up of the stage. Waiting is definately not a fun process, especially when you're waiting to see your favourite idols perform live on stage. S.H.E arrived on time, which I'm not surprised at all. The show started with a performance by two unknown female singers.

S.H.E then started with a rendition of Super Star. Everyone screamed at the top of their lungs and we were all stunned by their presence. The teenage spirit from within my mother was emerged that night. She was more hyper than I was, screaming and waving at them. I am glad my mother enjoyed it as much as I did. That night was really a night to remember. I always heard of people praising S.H.E for their live performances and professionalism and I couldn't agree more.

Their singing be it recorded or live is simply the best. Of course, if only you're a fan of S.H.E you would understand my statement but otherwise the opinion can be likewise. The videos shown during the concert was also very creative, portraying the journey of Selina, Hebe and Ella growing up together and realising their dreams. I enjoyed their KTV session, another well organized part of the concert. The trio was so funny, making jokes and enjoying themselves on stage. They were even eating the fruits served on stage. They must be very tired and hungry during then.

The show was breath taking and it ended before midnight. It was three hours of valueable memories and experience. I am so glad i went and witnessed their concert. In the future, if there will be another one, I will definately attend their concert again. So after becoming a fan of S.H.E for more than year I have already met them twice. Once last year during their OSIM promotion and this year during the concert. Hopefully, there will more oppurtunity to meet the three of them again in the future.
